I’m geeking out because the world’s most famous humor writer, Dave Barry, mentioned me and Bad Dad Jokes: That’s How Eye Roll on his blog yesterday.

So, *ahem*:

P.S. The “MILF” on that sweatshirt stands for “Man, I Love to Fart.”

This notice ran in Publishers Marketplace this week. Pretty exciting stuff! You can see the rough draft of the cover for Spies: Moe Berg below. He was a longtime professional baseball player in the 1930s. After about 15 years in the major leagues, Moe Berg enlisted as a spy during World War II. I explore the REST of his real-life story (along with some more imaginary versions) in my book!

No big deal, but I was just awarded WRITING’S GREATEST PRIZE! No, not the Nobel Prize in Literature. Even better—I won the ”Vile Pun” category in the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest.

As background, the BLFC challenges writers to compose the first sentence for the worst imaginable novel. It has various genre categories (Adventure, Romance, Science Fiction, etc.), and there’s also one for “Vile Puns.”

As nothing is more unfunny than explaining a joke, here goes:

A Peer is a member of the British aristocracy, and telling someone to “take a long walk off a short pier” is a way of telling someone to get lost.

So anyway, you can imagine how proud I am of this pun! And if you read any of the award-winning entries and think, “I could write worse than THAT,” be sure to enter this contest next year. 🙂

Hey, did you notice that I have two new books out? These STEAM activity books were a lot of fun to write. Hopefully, there’s fun to read as well. ROBOTS and SPACE are available now, and the next one in the series, BUILDING, is coming soon!

  • Fun science activity books for readers 4-8
  • Gorgeously illustrated with simple, easy-to follow instructions
  • Designed to help kids understand science, technology and the natural world

Each book in this STEAM series features more than 20 fun and engaging hands-on activities for young readers.
